FAQ

We are a branch of allied health care professionals, such as physiotherapists, podiatrists and radiographers. Unlike medical doctors who give injections, perform surgeries or write prescriptions, we practice spinal adjustments instead. At least 4400 hours of theory and practicals must be achieved before we are able to attain the degree to be a chiropractor.

Although the popping sounds do sound frightening, they are actually harmless. They are caused when joints open up during adjustments releasing air which causes the sound. Only certain adjustments will cause such sounds depending on the various techniques used and the state of the patient’s body.

Certain people often feel strong urges to ‘crack’ his or her own spine. This could be located in the lower back or at the neck. The urge is caused by muscular spasms due to stuck spinal vertebrae. In the event of cracking your own spine, a pop sound is created just like when a chiropractor does it. However, we have received extensive training to be able to move the joints in the exact direction with the exact amount of force required for each particular patient. If an untrained person or yourself cracks your spine over a period of time, problems may arise due to joint instability and this may require even more treatment and exercises to correct the damages inflicted upon the spine.

Chiropractic treatments can never be started too early. Even newborn babies can be treated to correct spinal injuries suffered from trauma during labour, such as vacuum or forceps birth etc. Birth traumas which are ignored lead to pressure on the spine down the road which has detrimental effects on normal development. This will cost the baby his or her health which could have been optimal with appropriate chiropractic care.

A consultation is needed to determine the amount of adjustments needed for a particular person. Discussions with us about your short and long term health goals are also essential for us to come up with the best treatment plan for you. Every individual is different and therefore it is impossible for a ‘one fits all’ rule to be applied to everyone when referring to the number of adjustments needed.

  • There is no need for a treatment plan to receive chiropractic treatment from us. There are patients who do come in for just ‘pay per visit’ adjustments. However, a single chiropractic adjustment provides only temporary relief, and does not address the root cause of the issue. Therefore, your pain will return without a doubt.
  • In contrast, with a proper treatment plan in place, you get to save money AND receive our holistic care. You get to enjoy our treatment options such as adjustments, dry needling , shockwave therapy, customised exercises and re-examinations, all at a lowered cost.
  • It is highly unlikely that the health problem you are experiencing occurred in an instant. A more plausible explanation would be bad habits over a prolonged period of time. This means that it is illogical to expect your problem to vanish with just one or even a few visits with us.
  • Even though certain adjustments may cause slight discomfort initially, depending on the joint or condition, you should not feel any pain after an adjustment.
  • Should it be your first adjustment though, a slight discomfort lasting about 12 to24 hours is usual.
